The Jornada de Banda Desenhada em Português/ Journée d’Études: Bande Dessinée en Portugais is a one-day international event organized by iCOn-MICs in collaboration with the Chair Sá Miranda (Instituto Camões) at the Université Clermont Auvergne. Comics scholars, journalists, editors and artists will deliver papers exploring the multiple aspects that characterise the state of the art of comics in Portugal and Brazil. Among the topics to be covered during the Jornada are the reception of lusophone comics when translated into other languages, the appropriation of foreign comics cultures and industries in Brazil and Portugal, or the engagement of comics with key social and political issues in lusophone countries. The aim of the Jornada is to further the study of comics produced in the Portuguese language.

The Jornada is organised by Hugo Almeida (CIUHCT- Interuniversity Center for the History of Science and Technology, NOVA University of Lisbon) and Ana Matilde Sousa (Faculdade de Belas-Artes de Lisboa e investigadora do CIEBA – Centro de Investigação e de Estudos em Belas-Artes) as part of the research activities of the Working Group ‘Iberian Comics as a Form of Intercultural Dialogue’ .
