La
obra de ficción de Robert E. Howard es amplia, y la que se
agrupa en ciclos se acerca a un total de 500 relatos. Era un
autor prolífico, pues, muy versátil (escribía relatos de todo
tipo y de todo género, y de hecho inauguró el de la fantasía
heroica más genuina) y muy rápido (muchos trabajos eran
alimenticios, y muy raras fueron sus obras con dimensiones de
novela). Su carrera fue epítome de la literatura popular sin
duda alguna.
A continuación se muestra la bibliografía de los ciclos de
aventuras de fantasía de Robert E. Howard no relativos a Kull o
a Conan u otros héroes de la fantasía heroica (que disfrutan de
páginas propias debido a su importancia). En las tablas que se
ofrecen a continuación se indica la primera publicación de cada
relato (enumerar todas sus ediciones seria una tarea ardua, dado
que REH ha sido reeditado innumerables veces). De los fragmentos
terminados por otros autores se ha contemplado la versión
original inacabada; los fragmentos no concluidos no se han
tomado en consideración y también han sido omitidos la mayoría
de poemas. Todas las obras son de REH, salvo que se indique
algún comentario sobre el autor que lo retocó, completó o
terminó; y todo son cuentos de corta extensión, salvo que se
indique que son novelas, fragmentos u otros. Algunos relatos han
sido ofrecidos en distintas ocasiones con títulos distintos, por
eso se han incluido en el listado todos los títulos del mismo
relato.
En las tablas, ordenadas siempre siguiendo las fechas de
publicación, se ofrece: el título del relato original, el título
de la publicación que lo editó por vez primera (en versalitas),
el sello editorial (en el caso de los libros), y la fecha de
aparición.
